YoYo Yogis

Spotted the Yo Yo Yogis in SW Portland.  I've been following their blog so I felt like I was stalking a yogi celebrity.  Snuck a pic of the yogi mobile and their cocker spaniel, Rudy aka The RU, who has his own page of down dogisms.

The YoYos are traveling the roads hitting 100 studios in 100 days.

Click here to check out their very cool blog; Yo Yo Yogi ...have yoga mat will travel.

"Join the road-trippin’, life-explorin’, path- showin’Yo Yo Yogis on a most excellent adventure as they uncover the “not to miss” Yoga Studios on the West Coast."
This weekend the Yo Yo's are at Wanderlust Festival. Billed as
"a new kind of yoga festival bringing together the world's top yoga teachers and best performers in Rock & Roll.  All in a setting of breathtaking natural beauty."

Wow, wish I was going.  It's happening this weekend. July 24-26, Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe, California.

taming the ta-tas

lululemon wants to tame my ta-tas and sadly so does Boise, Idaho. My running partner will forever refer to our Boise river run as one of our best ever. Or at the very least one of the most exciting. We spent the night in Boise on our way home from Park City, Utah and decided to start the morning off with a 6 mile run. Something to wake us up and get us back on the road to Portland, Oregon. Just another 400 miles or so.

We had hardly gotten into our run and my Nike zip-front running bra failed me. The zipper broke and out popped the girls. I don't think I've ever referred to my breasts as "the girls" but I was looking a cute way to share my sordid tale of indecent exposure. Pretty exciting stuff for conservative Boise, Idaho. I've wondered before about the security of the zipper bra. It does make it easy to get in and out of it. But when the zipper goes there is no back up plan. And since the zipper is in the front it's extra important that it works. Maybe the bra was modeled after the Nike Free running shoes. These are the shoes that provide the barefoot running experience. Here's the description of the Nike Free shoe;
"strength-trains legs and feet by imitating barefoot movement, while still providing the cushioning, traction, and underfoot protection runners need."
Here's a marketing idea for Nike, re-word the Nike Free shoe info and use it to market the Zip-front exposure bra. (Note the name change!)

Nike's Zip-front exposure bra:
"provides a feeling of freedom and bare-breasted movement."

I'm a girl who usually doubles up on her bras for running so a feeling of freedom isn't exactly what I'm after. Nike, oh Nike you did me wrong!

Luckily lululemon is my friend on facebook and on the very day that Nike failed me lululemon has come to my aid with the Ta Ta Tamer. The Ta Ta Tamer is lululemon’s very first Full Support Sports bra. It's for girls with C, D, and DDs and lulu says it,
"Tames your favourite 'girls' without smooshing them down".
For $58.00 I can't wait to get to my favorite lululemon store in Portland, Oregon and pick one up. Then I can focus on my running and not worry about looking like a topless stripper out for my morning workout. Or maybe I'm just out training for next year's Fig Leif Naked Run/Ride. A very special thank you to Nike for the freedom, the exposure, and the inspiration!

Change is good?

Change is good, right? I have been working very hard to change my physique. To change it from soft and curvy: to rock hard and buff. You know my Oxygen fitness model quest. Well I am changing and instead of focusing on the positive changes; my arms are getting cut and strong! I've been focusing on the negative; my triceps are still fat! I've got that "old lady" tricep swing going on. When you wave your arm and your arm fat keeps waving. Somehow as I was working out yesterday I decided that my new toned shoulders and biceps only make my triceps look worse. Like the original overall arm fat was somehow camouflaging my fat tris. I know that this is ridiculous. I should be happy with the change and keep on working. But sometimes isn't that the hardest thing to do?

Here are some tips to help you stay motivated and get through the tough spots.

1. Focus on the changes. You've worked hard for them. Enjoy!
2. Keep the big picture in perspective. Don't get caught up in the small stuff.
3. Focus on effort.
4. Build on your strengths.
5. Be positive and optimistic.

Keep up with all your hard work. And stay positive. I'm trying to!
